BriefIrish band Soda Blonde came to us to capture a one-off performance with the National Symphony Orchestra at The National Concert Hall. Directed by Alex Delap and shot by Leon Forristal, the aim was to create a concert film that preserved the scale and emotion of this rare collaboration between band and 65-piece orchestra.
ProcessEleven cameras were positioned across the venue, including a remote overhead rig, to capture both the intimacy of the band and the breadth of the orchestra. Movement between performers was fluid, allowing the visuals to follow the rhythm of the music. With limited space and a large ensemble, every angle was carefully planned. Lighting designer Conor Biddle created a restrained, elegant atmosphere that added depth without overwhelming the performance.
ResultPremiering at Lighthouse Cinema, the film transforms a live performance into a lasting document. It captures a unique meeting of orchestral scale and emotional subtlety, preserving a singular moment in the band’s journey.
