CMAT x Jamie Oliver

Director: Eilis Doherty

Client: CMAT

BriefCMAT wanted a music video for her hit song Jamie Oliver Petrol Station but ONLY if Jamie Oliver agreed to cameo and showcase his secret drumming skills. Despite initial doubts, he was in.

The constraints were tight: two hours with Jamie in a not-yet-open restaurant on Leicester Square. We knew we could make it work.

Inspired by the song’s chaotic build and camp '70s tone, director Eilís Doherty developed a simple narrative: an overwhelmed Jamie rediscovers joy through music when his fairy godmother CMAT gifts him a set of drumsticks.

ProcessThe concept blends references like The Brady Bunch and Austin Powers, leaning into playful surrealism. Choreography embraces awkward, joyful movement, with CMAT adding influence from Italian singer Raffaella Carrà.

The set design echoes retro TV aesthetics, bold colours and geometric staging. For styling, Doherty drew upon Cher and classic sitcom family palettes.

Filming Jamie’s scenes was intense: a busy, soon-to-be-open London kitchen with twenty chefs, limited time, and an ambitious shot list. Careful planning ensured we captured everything, and thankfully Jamie fully committed to the absurd tone.

ResultPremiered at CMAT’s Alexandra Palace show, the music video received a huge response. The UK press celebrated its humour and concept, while fans continue to celebrate its unapologetic camp and chaotic charm.
